Restorative Modeling
The African American Female Achievement Initiative (AAFAI)will encourage human/civil rights for African American females in the Oakland Unified School District.
Achievement Pipeline
AAFAI serves as a conduit that invigorates an interest in pathways to college and career readiness, and progressive civic engagement.
In 2014, AAFAI's initial cohort presented a proposal to OUSD board members. Primary request recommended an office within OUSD fully equipped and geared towards advocating for high academic outcomes for African American females.
SEL Approach
AAFAI offers solutions to emotional and environmental trauma, educational inequity, and female and racial battle fatigue.
Our goal is to promote positive nurturing learning spaces that cultivates strong self and cultural identity, sisterhood, healthy, and sound relationships for AA girls and young women expected to excel in academic settings.
Sustainability will be made possible through influencing the policy-making process, impacting habitual programmed systems that reflect political awareness and empowered action analysis and engagement.
